Legitimacy: Legal Entities, Licensing & PermitsJoin us for the final workshop of our 5-workshop series as we understand the process of building business legitimacy. We will educating participants on the licensing and permitting process in the City of Long Beach.Access to Capital: Introduction to Financing & LoansAfter we will invite a guest bank speaker to describe the loan process and the benefits of financing our business ideas. We will assist participants completing their start-up cost calculations, understanding their credit report & preparing for the Micro-Business Start-up Grant Application.

The Cambodian Assocation of America's Poverty Alleviation Initiative Project includes a Micro-Business Start-up Grant Program that will award 23 community members with $3,500 in start-up funds to build, run and sustain income-generating small businesses.

Can I attend the workshops even if I am not applying for the Micro-Business Start-up Grant?

Yes, the workshops/trainings are open and free to the public.

How do I apply for the Micro-Business Start-up Grant?

When applications open in December 2023, applicants must complete an online application form, submit their business plan & start-up cost calculations.

Who is eligible for the Micro-Business Start-up Grant?

Applicants must be:

  • Cambodian or of Cambodian Descent

  • Must be a resident within SPA 7 or SPA 8

  • Low-Moderate Income Level

  • Participant in our Business Workshop series

What is SPA 7 & 8?

SPA stands for "Service Planning Area" which are regions within Los Angeles County. Eligible applicants much reside within these areas. Click the links below to verify whether you are within these boundaries.

Can I use the grant funds on an existing business?

No, grant funds may only be used to expense newly started micro-businesses.
